Ghost Door Opens in July of the Lunar Calendar|Taiwan

[Ghost door opens in July of the lunar calendar]
July 1 of the lunar calendar! It's the day when the ghost gate opens! There are a lot of taboos in this month, including going to the beach less, not getting married, not picking things up, etc., which adds a lot of mystery and treacherous color to this month!

But what is the origin of "Ghost Opening" in the seventh lunar month? There are different opinions. There is a saying that the seventh month of the lunar calendar is actually a lucky month, but in order to occupy this month, Zhu Yuanzhang implemented a "policy of foolish people" to put the blame on ghosts and make the people think that July is the month. Bad month, so the custom of ghost month continues to this day.

In addition, the seventh lunar month is also called "filial piety month"!
The origin is because the Buddha's disciple Mulian wanted to save his mother who was suffering in hell! The Buddha taught him to make offerings to the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha at the end of the summer rainy season, when the merits are greatest, and to give the merit to his mother, so that she can escape from hell. Following the instructions of the Buddha, Mulian not only frees his mother from hell, but also saves all living beings who suffer in hell with his mother. This is also the original narrative of the story of "Mulian saving his mother", so Buddhism calls July the "filial piety" month".

During this month, the "good brothers" of the Yin world will come to the Yang to find something to eat. In addition to preparing rich offerings, some households will hang lanterns called "Zundu Gong Lantern". In addition to guiding the way, good brothers also have the meaning of blessing.

Regardless of religious beliefs, Pao Bian thinks that it is a pretty good thing to learn more about traditional Chinese culture!
